Brendan is a partner of the firm. He joined Glaholt LLP in 1998 as an articling student.
He carries on a civil litigation practice, with particular emphasis on construction litigation. He has acted for various players in the construction industry, including owners, sureties, subcontractors and suppliers, general contractors and design professionals.
Brendan also has appeared at all levels of Ontario courts, up to and including the Court of Appeal. He also has trial experience in various types of construction claim cases, including construction liens, claims for deficiency and poor workmanship, and the defence of a professional negligence claim arising out of a construction lien action.
Brendan is an Associate of Canadian Surety Bonding (A.C.S.B.). This designation is conferred by the Surety Association of Canada upon the completion of courses at the University of Toronto in suretyship, construction and surety law, accounting and business. He has also authored and co-authored articles on various topics related to construction law.
Brendan is a frequent speaker on construction law
topics. He is the current Continuing Legal Education
liason for the OBA Construction Law Section, and will
be co-chairing the upcoming program on hot
topics in construction law for commercial solicitors.
Brendan teaches the Construction Law course to third
and fourth year students at the school of Architectural
Science of Ryerson University. The course covers
a whole range of issues, including contract and negligence
law, tendering, construction liens, surety bonds and
dispute resolution. In addition, Brendan has served
as a guest lecturer at George Brown College, and has
acted as an independent study director for the University
of Ottawa Faculty of Law, Common Law Section.
