Filip completed his undergraduate studies in International Relations at the University of Western Ontario. He holds an LL.B. and a B.C.L. from McGill University. He also attended as a visiting student at the Università degli studi di Torino in Piedmont, Italy.
Filip has successfully written the Solicitor and Barrister examinations of the Law Society of Upper Canada, and completed the Professional Skills and Responsibility Programme necessary for admission to the Bar.
Filip is a member of the Construction Law Section of the Ontario Bar Association.
