Mr. Rochester
has been Counsel to the firm since its inception in
1987. He was called to the Bar in 1976, and has been
practicing exclusively in the area of construction law
since that time. Mr. Rochester is also a Professional
Engineer (civil) since 1960, and has had 12 years hands
on construction experience in project estimating and
management on various projects including buildings,
docks, bridges and hydroelectric projects, between 1960
and 1972.
During this period he developed and administered an
innovative and powerful computer estimating and costing
program that was used successfully by several major
Canadian heavy civil engineering contractors to bid
and control large hydro electric construction projects.
Mr. Rochester’s law practice has included all
areas of engineering and construction litigation as
well as insurance defence. He has particular experience
in disputes involving roofing and structural failures,
hydroelectric and pipeline development, road and bridge
construction, tunneling and steel fabrication and erection.
In the course of his legal practice, he has written
and lectured on the impact of legal issues on the construction
and engineering business.
